Stephen Wesley Gorton has been drawing and painting for over fifty years.
His work has been exhibited widely in Australia, North America and Europe, both in solo exhibitions and group retrospective shows of 19th and 20th Century American and European Masters.

He has been described as a Figurative Expressionist but he has painted in a variety of styles that relate to the different periods of his thirty-five year career. From his early Surreal Period to later Figurative works in oils, ranging from Realism to Expressionism and Semi-Abstract works. It is difficult to put a single label on Stephens work, and he likes it that way.
Stephen is also an author of numerous articles and a book on art, a teacher and the Founding Director of Sydneys Paddington Art School and the Australian Academy of Fine Art.
He is currently working on a new exhibition and the new edition of his book on the metaphysics of drawing.
