Born 1948, artist, doll maker and jazz musician, rent refugee from London living in small French village. As far back as I can remember I have deciphered faces and creatures in damp stains on walls, the patterns in wood and clouds. Now I delight in finding and bringing to life the creatures hiding in randomly applied paint and the stories they tell. The method reproduces that of our earliest ancestors who found their inspiration in the play of firelight on the rough walls of their caves. I once read about a Tibetan monk-artist whose Thankas were painted with such sincerity that they didn't require blessing when finished. I often wonder about that. I feel a painting has succeeded if the result makes me want to jump up and down.
