Paskalis Anastasi was born in London in 1965 to Cypriot parents, but has spent most of his life in Cyprus, where he is now living. It was during the 17 years that he spent in England during the early part of his life that has inspired him to take up art as a profession.During his recent academic year in England,he depicted people during their everyday activities in urban life. These works reflect character and individuality, showing the importance of a person who, lost in a crowd somewhere, may seem insignificant. It is about evoking emotion, reflection, familiarity and questions, by allowing the viewer to see him or herself in each of these individuals - a view that is projected through his own vision and feelings. He collects information through sketching and photography and builds a narrative by putting people together on canvas to create a story.In his latest work he has created an installation that forces the viewer to encounter the painting by entering the space of the painting.
