I was born in North London, on 8th January 1945, the last of seven children. My chosen profession was Civil Engineering . The direction of my education took me away from art as a subject,however I never lost my interest and in my mid 50s I began painting as a hobby,initially in the Naive style but later experimenting with different styles and subjects. The Naive style of painting came quite naturally to me. I found that I could produce pleasing images which create a different reality to conventional academic art, allowing complete freedom to tell a story without following the normal rules relating to colour, scale or perspective. These paintings often combine a mix of nostalgia and humour and can best be described as Quirky.
Later works have included a series of Art Deco portraits, several still life images (inc. venetian masks), several solarised nudes and finally a whole series of Iconic portraits in black and white. As an artist I am always looking for new ideas to inspire me.
