About

Marcia the artist behind Mini - Collage. I'm a collage artist, I specialise in portraying Urban femininity. Each image is compiled excatly the same. Consisting of a simple outline of the face, no details such as eyes or nose, only a suggestion of these features. I strip the emotions from the images and re-produce them in photograms, whether its fear, happiness or excitment these emtions are produced using feminine objects such as jewellery and containers for precious objects.

Mini-Collage; is an eclectic mix of African textiles, Caribbean creativity, accented with European influences. Which lends to a stylish collage of fresh vibrancy.I am Influenced by those who inspire through art and fashion, such as Nkwo Onwuka who inspires through her vibrant innovative style as seen in her Afro Bohemian chic collection. Where she describes this range as free spirited and nomadic, I also enjoy Vivienne Westwood constructive approach to design. I am further influenced by art and fashion produced in the 1920-40's around the African American Renaissance era that manifested through self assurance and confidence. As well as sprawling city environments that encases and support changing ideas, that leads to a collage of influences in a forever, changing urban space.

Mediums:I create images using geometric symbolic shapes to create form and design, I prefer bold patterns and prints. I use photograms as a starting point to produce, black and white dark room manipulations, including digital manipulation. I enjoy using these mediums to create inspirational moments captured from Urban flux that speaks of emotively to the viewers.

I have been studying art and design for seven years. Where I have explored the world of the arts, covering historical, modern and contemporary art works and processes. This as allowed me to develop and bend my skills towards mix media, specializing in collage and photograms.Photograms; as a technique is preferable because of its unpredictable nature, you are presented with chance always. This process rest within my themes of urban environments where the unpredictable resides with grace and beauty. Where I explore the electric facets of urban life.

Sunset, Sunrise: refers to cities 24hrs of wakefulness; we never sleep. Slice: refers to, take your slice of life before its to late. Quick Silver: alludes to urban love caught in bloom. This is my second collection entitled: urban-chic Mini-Collage; are facets of Urban chic, the environment we dwell in. In sprawling city environments that lends to a collage of influences in a forever changing space. Mini-Collage, are photograms, which have been digitally manipulated. These are representational of moments captured from Urban flux. These photograms are an injection of geometric forms fused with colour and detail, inspired by the feminine movement that speaks of Urban grace and confidence.I' am currently developing an emotive London presence where she continues to create affordable art pieces reflective of Urban indispensable Chic.
