Jill Tattersall

About

Born in the UK, childhood in Germany and Africa. I was torn between music, art and literature and worked with all three before opting for artMainly semi-abstract mixed media work. The two main current strands involve paintings on hand-cast cotton paper with intense colour built up with paints, inks, dyes and pigments; also work using reclaimed, recycled and found objects. I use collage and a variety of experimental techniques according to the subject matter. I am particularly influenced by the medieval mindset, abstract patterns in nature and colour. I have regularly been invited to run workshops and art projects and helped to organise Art on the Map, Lincolnshire's Artists' Open Studios scheme.

Future Shows: I have scheduled a temporary break from solo shows following my relocation to the South Coast, apart from forthcoming (May) Artists' Open Houses, part of Brighton Festival. (I am a Hove Arts representative to the central Artists' Open Houses.) I am organising a nine-person month-long event, 'The Wolf at the Door'. I will be showing new work of my own and also intend to enter the House Open exhibition (to be judged by Brian Eno.)
