About

I make sculptures from paper and plaster about characters in the unconscious. The paper has a distinct and prominent voice with its wrinkles, sags, and movement as I coax it into a human-like form whether in gesture, or stillness. The unconscious, with its emotion, irrationalism, mythic aura, sensuous detail is the missing half of the rational, ego-centered Western life stripped of it for the sake of dominance, power, and efficiency. The sculpture creates a psychic space where the individual and collective are not separate, and by this movement of mind makes a space of politics, one where a new discussion can take place.
