'Starting painting and drawing at the age of thirteen and with an enviable pedigree of Art School education – Goldsmiths’ College, St Martin’s School of Art and Byam Shaw School of Art, Phyllis can draw on much experience, keen observation and dedication. This all shows in her work, the maturity with which she discards the unnecessary and leaves us with a fresh and instinctive interpretation to appreciate.'

'Phyllis is a 21st Century Dorset impressionist: her garden a rich source of inspiration, take “The Pond” series of paintings , she has painted over 20, yet each one is painted with fresh spontaneity. I really like the way Phyllis dives into her paintings with this immediacy ,almost innocent approach which comes through in each picture. The pond
becomes a microcosm of colour and form, random and free.

This freedom of expression and her strong palette translates itself perfectly in her fruit and flower paintings she makes it looks so easy but technically the layers of colour on colour and often seemingly blurred perspective is very much Phyllis’s own interpretation of nature. The use of abstracted brushstrokes and painterly marks create her very distinctive and beautiful paintings.'
