Alienation and intimacy, power and impotence are recurring themes in my work. In my sculptures, installations, drawings and photograph´s humour is often perceptible ánd palpable; humour with a painful undercurrent. Human behaviour is the source of astonishment and inspiration for my work.
My study biology at the university of Amsterdam laid the foundations for scrupulous research and recording; as a biologist I did detailed research on jellyfish and toads. My interest in human behaviour results from the observation of animals.
During my study at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam I turned my observations to drawings and sculptures.
In my work I use different techniques and materials. A lot of materials, like clothing and household goods, is originating from recycling shops or my private surroundings.
