The impetus is to conceive art as a process - to visualize art in its very nature
The fabrics Uli Fischer is working with have one thing in common:
they have a history of their own, have obtained a soul by usage, bearing signs of wear.
Uli Fischer attemps to make these signs of wear visible, tracking down their individual life and aura, the patina of each of them, while at the same time exploring their artistic value and esthetics within a new contextual frame.
In tracing the elements of life within the various fabrics, Uli Fischer uncovering their apparent patina to unveil their inner structure and coherence whilst strongly relying on his own artistic intuition he not only conjures and re-creates the historical aura but succeeds in expanding it by adding a new dimension: his own.
