born 1975 - Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading.My Paintings:I studied Fine Art Painting at Brighton University where I gained a BA (hons) in the subject. My painting was previously about the paint, texture and eventual form of the work. - having very little to do with the subject matter, starting out as a seed of an idea directed by the work and flow of the piece. The outcome of the painting would reveal its history of progress through texture and rich layering of colours. I find that more recently my paintings combine this process with my love for painting animals, particularly birds - contrasting the real with the more imagined - taking the bird at its esscence and seeing where it takes me. I like to finish with more dream-like surroundings for my subjects - I hope that my work is enjoyed for its open-endedness - where I would like to think the viewer attaches their own stories and meanings to the piece.
