About

Eduardo Bragança was born in Porto, 05/10/74. After his multiple experiences on the field of Graphic Design and Advertisment, he started to comunicate in a different language. From 2001 and through this new language, he transfers from his graphical experiences to the parallel devotion to painting, using his aesthetic and visual references to manipulate art as a plastic language, developing them simultaneously with his job. All over his career he establishes himself as an advertising designer, and image adviser, developing innumerable graphic works and institutional campaigns, participating with advertising agencies and national and international customers. The universe of painting appears in a global context of enjoyment and use of these same tools of communication for disturbance of his perceptible habits, participating in an alternative reality and interaction with his ideas. In 2005, after his first public appearance, he immediately gets the recognition of the public, being invited to take part in the Portuguese National Film Library in the Archive of Plastic Artists, and afterwards gets an invitation, from an independent agent, to be represented in Greece and Cyprus. His doubts, his excitements, with fragments of existential situations, questioned him to look over new performances and various essays for this artistic reality, developing a plastic language with references to the figurative and abstract expressionism.Loaded with iconographic symbolism and written language, his works, hold references of Portuguese culture and expressions of human relationships, using a special simbology and prominent references that appeal to an emotionality. He lives and works in Oporto."Eduardo Bragana is a breath of fresh air in the young Portuguese plastic creators scene. Its been a long time since Ive seen this kind of chromatic vivacity. It is unsettled, nervous, yet deep and distinct, with that character unique to things which make an impression and stand out. It has also been a long time since Ive felt this inner world towards which Eduardo Bragana summons us. It is delicate yet deep, strong but at the same time soft and light."Antnio de Sousa-Cardoso (President of ANJE Portuguese Young Entrepreneurs National Organization)Eduardo Bragana is a young painter exhibiting "Fado" as the basic foundation of the Latin word, ("Fatum") indicates, questions himself here on the destination and the multiplicity of directions we follow, where feelings have colours, portray, making us think and perhaps give meaning to what we are either as an individual or as country.Bernardo Trindade(Secretary of State for tourism) Read More
