Born in 1981 in the city of So Carlos, about 140 miles from So Paulo, Monica Rizzolli had her first contact with art during childhood. Niece and grandgrand daughter of painters, she spent her days playing at her grandfathers graphic shop. She started to draw during adolescence by copying comic book characters. Soon after, printmaking tuned into one of her main interests; she became litography apprentice and also studied Shodo (Japanese caligraphy). Monicas experience as a performer in the project [In.CoRpo.Ro], as well as her work at a figure drawing studio, where she would direct sessions, and pose on occasion have inspired the artist to develop the central themes of her work: the body and the human relations.
