Miguel Guzmn was born in New York City in 1974. He currently works and lives in Miami, Florida. Miguel has studied at Florida State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, and The Art Institute of Chicago. Although trained in traditional methods and techniques, his works often involve the use of digital imaging and printing techniques in combination with painting, collage, and assemblage.

From 2003 2006 I had been pursuing a body of work focused on the war in Iraq. Although I was opposed to the war from the outset, my works were never intended to be mere anti-war pieces. In addition, they address broader human issues of conflicting notions of absolute truth that, throughout history have inevitably fueled division and violent conflict. Instead of making mere political statements, I wanted to speak of this historical human failure, where ideas of the good and right often take a turn for the worse and result in campaigns plagued with inequities. Another facet of my work strives to subvert the ephemeral, temporary nature of my source images, our sense of distance and detachment as viewers, and our ever declining attention span.
