Marshall Dines was born in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, in 1980. He received a BA from Williams College in 2003, and an MD degree from the University of Colorado, Denver in 2009. He currently lives in Los Angeles where he practices both art and medicine. His work explores the interface between reality and abstraction using media as diverse as paint, pencil, light, and plastic. Drawing on his background in art and science, he attempts to challenge notions of identity and being through novel interpretations of human existence and the ever-changing world we live in.
His work has been shown across the country, at museums and galleries including the Colorado Museum of Nature and Science, Theory and Practice Gallery, Denver, The Assembly Gallery, Denver, Phoenix Gallery, New York City, and the New York Hall of Science.
