I interpret our reality, as the manifestation of an invisible force that animates it. From this unseen world, I draw the inspiration for my work. The layering in my work serves as a metaphor for the interconnectedness of all existence in a multidimensional universe. Life is not flat, our reality consists of many layers – there’s a whole lot more going on than meets the eye.
Throughout the years, I have incorporated digital images into backgrounds created with traditional mediums such as drawing and painting. My most recent work employs drawing, photography, painting and digital manipulation. Old portraits appear in some of my works. Through the juxtaposition of the old and the new, I am bringing these individuals into the present, and ‘giving them life’ in a contemporary setting, thus allowing them possibilities they may have never had.
