London/Newcastle, United Kingdom
I am a photographer. I studied photography. I work in photography taking studio pictures mainly of kids in a studio in Byker or whatever events the studio I work for sets-up. It's mainly providing an affordable service for those who can't afford it. I manipulate photos for fun also. Some of it is quite philosophical and political.
I used to run my own business in London mainly within the charity sector but can't be assed with doing all the business crap myself so I found someone to work for in Newcastle and we have a good working relationship.
I have shown work in the offices of the deputy prime minister, city hall, Somerset Hse., The Spitz, blah, blah, blah. Been in print, auctioned shit off in Christies.
I am also heavily involved in a volunteer run collective cinema in Newcastle called the Star and Shadow where I have been involved in a number of projects, personal and community based and have shown some 35mm prints there. Including a season of films called banned films that changed cinema starting with Salo from which a number of people walked out on. That is a small highlight of my life.
Right now I am spending 5 months in Colombia blowing the money I earned from the sale of some prints. A friend of mine there has been doing some work with an indigenous tribe for a petroleum company and we are going to see if we can use some of the material to do an exhibition that may tell an informative story.
Who knows?
