I am drawn to go to see the horizon many times over, and often paint it in my paintings. Waves roar and clouds run fast now and then, however, it becomes silent when each of these comes close to each other. There is nothing disturbing my heart there, and the silence makes me see myself dispassionately, as if it soaks up all of the worries and uneasiness. Thus the completely horizontal line, which shows the balance and stability rather than stirring emotions, is necessary for my paintings.
From this thought, I create my art works to illustrate the boundary line between each of us and the outside world. The line might exist in order to identify the interrelation of our consciousness and unconsciousness. I expect the viewer to define himself or herself by looking into unconsciousness through my painting. As a result, a silent interaction could occur between the viewer and the painting.
