Marek Hospodarsky describes painting as "a way of life for me, not a way to satisfy my ambitions". His main interest is relationships between people, the mystery of existence and the natural world. He translates these fascinations using oil on canvas to create ethereal, evocative paintings in a very distinctive palette of moody, washed out hues. "Painting", he says, "is a way of looking on a world around us. It helps me to express all the things that I can't express using words." Marek, who lives in Prague, studied the theory of art and aesthetics at Masaryk University in Brno.
