My paintings consist of scenes I select from my daily life. I do not paint directly from life but use photographs and video footages that I take. I seldom use human figure in my work. However, this does not mean that I exclude human element from my work. I think that the lack of human figure in my paintings indicates what is missing. By emphasizing the space as a social and cultural environment which surrounds us and in which we live, I aim to examine contemporary human condition and reach a narrative about it. Such public spaces as official and private buldings, shoping malls, places where the city garbage is recycled, parking lots, children play grounds, amusement parks, pools and etc are my subjects. I use photographs as an aid to my memory as I paint, and while taking photographs I do not approach to my subject with a professional photographer?s sensitivity and aesthetic sense. However, I think that the use of photography as a mechanical and contemporary medium along with the way of seeing it brings about contributes to the content of my work. In fact, under the most normal conditions the photograph usually comes out above my expectations. But, I manipulate photographs on the computer, crop them and blow up the cropped parts creating different frames. As a result, the image is inevitably transformed, in a sense, becomes ambigious, abstract and fragmentary.

Although I paint from photographic images, I also find it important to have a personal experience of the place photographed. That is why I prefere to use photographs I take. I think this allows me to develop a personal way of seeing and painting.?
