Born in London in 1978. Living and working in London.Kay's landscape and figurative drawings are characterised by the strong mark making in charcoals and graphite. There is an influence from abstract expressive artists including Cy Twombly and Antoni Tapies. The work is often in a series and has a story telling quality. Recent works include landscapes from Death Valley made on heavy drafting paper drawn on both sides to create a muti layered image and life studies on paper incorporating paint and pen. There is an experimental element to all Kay's work with different materials and surfaces explored.
