About

I am a painter of colours and strange and surreal stories from my own imagination.
My creation are extremely varied: from the 2-dimensional figurative paintings, modern figurative, through surreal, fantastic, semi-abstract, abstract, 3- dimensional collages, installations and mural, till video-art. I always combine my works in cycles, such as Peter Pan Series, Metropolis Series, Eyes Series, Devon Series or Brain Series and Contemporary Art in the Community.
Things that definitely have had a big impact on me as an artist are: knowledge (I am a book addict), other artists, art history, the space and environment that surround me in both the literal and metaphorical sense.
It is a fact that I think that our existence in a philosophical/cosmic sense is meaningless. Compared to the history and the dimension of the universe we humans are nothing. Because of that we shouldn’t take ourselves so damn seriously. If we could do this our lives would be 100% more tolerable. Our lives are also often very difficult, too harsh to be taken seriously. This does not mean that we should not respect this world and the creatures that live in this world. I try to express this persona l philosophy in my paintings and my writing.

Work
Most of my paintings have been sold to private collectors and to order, approximately 122 works in total to 69 collectors, three art galleries and the Museum of Fine Art in Las Vegas, USA.

My first experience as a working artist took place during a three month period in Austria, after I graduated as a Master in Philology and then left Poland. As a vagabond I moved from one to another of the beautiful villages and small towns in Austria. I painted the Pubs, Inns, Hotels, Restaurants, Villas and interesting buildings and sold the results to the owners, tourists and passers-by. I didn’t expect that I could make such a lot of money! I had enough to stay in local hotels, dining every night in pubs or restaurants, to buy new painting paraphernalia, to travel and to have fun. The summer that year was hot and sunny. The views were magnificent, and so were the food and the wines. The people were willing to pay good money for my water colours and I have to admit that my first experience of being a working artist wasn’t so bad.
After that I moved to the Netherlands, had children and the responsibilities that go with them. My aristocratic partner wasn't really interested to support financial his family. I was trying to establish myself as an artist but I could not make enough money for living and got involved in a variety of different professional fields. And I even made lots of money. I never stopped painting but for a long time art wasn’t my main activity. However, from 2003 I decided to concentrate on it.
Beside art I am also very interested in writing. I wrote my first poem at the age of 16, and have never stopped since then. I publish my poems regularly in diverse Polish magazines (including several radio interviews and a few of my own poetry readings).
