Karli Ruscoe is a fine art photographer living in Greenville, North Carolina. She was born in 1974 in Vermont and soon after relocated to Florida. It was as a young child growing up in central Florida when Karli captured her first black and white images. SLR in hand, standing on a sundrenched porch of an old manor house, she was found. A local photographer, Anna Tomczak, lead a small group of young artists through the discovery of light in a local elementary school photography club. At the age of 11, two of Karli’s first photographs were select for the 1985 gallery exhibition entitled "Frozen in Time”. It was the sundrenched porch image though that graced the gallery invitation.

In the years that followed, photography served as an escape for Karli. Feeling unfulfilled and a bit lost in her mid-twenties, she toyed with the idea of pursuing a formal education in photography. After completing a course in black and white photography at her local community college, she entered several images in a local art show, where she received an honorable mention nod for “best in show”. Encouraged, she applied for and was accepted into Parsons School of Design in Paris, France in the Fall of 2001. She was sitting in a photography class in Paris on that fateful day of September 11th. Feeling shaken by the events of the time and unchallenged by the course content, she became an art school drop-out. The streets of Paris then became her institution of higher learning before returning to the states later that fall. More than ten years have passed and she still struggles to make room for her passion while balancing the “real world”, her resistance fading.
