My work captures moments of tranquillity, invoking both the banality and the profundity of the passing of each day. I'm intrigued by the second side of reality and its hidden character.
Many of my works are landscapes, somewhat abstract, with a number harking back to the scenes of my childhood in Poland. Objects and land have memories, they have a life, there is something poetic and mysterious about them. It's interesting in how we attribute visual pleasure to one thing and not another. Something considered unattractive, from a different perspective can become interesting and can get new values. Showing these normal scenes on canvas seems to lift them to a status they wouldn't otherwise reach and makes us look at them in a fresh way and appreciate the surroundings that we take for granted.
I use a bright subtle palette, evoking an undertone of melancholy. I present monochrome works in the in the photographic aesthetic. These qualities allow me to show these normal scenes from a new angle. …Read More
I graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, Poland and Secondary Art School in the same city. I have exhibited widely in Poland, UK and the Netherlands in group and solo shows.
