Jean-Pierre Kunkel was born in Lievin, France, in 1950. From childhood on he explored different techniques of drawing and painting to portray the world around him. Growing up in Germany, he later attended Kunstakademie in Munich and the College for Art in Hamburg, followed by educational stays in New York and Paris.
Since the 1970s, Jean-Pierre Kunkel has been working as a freelance illustrator and painter in Hamburg. His work has been published in magazines such as DER SPIEGEL, Stern and Focus, and he has exhibited in galleries in Germany.
His styles range from photorealism to combinations of abstraction and impressionism.
