Jassen Popp was born in 1974 in America. Resides in London, UK.
Jassen Popp began his art training early in life. At the age of seven, Jassen took part in a watercolor lesson at a University close to his home town. Jassen's father, a fine art sculptor, was working at the University and set a framework for his development in the field.
About 15 years later, Jassen finished his first degree in Fine Arts. He was taught by such leading artists in the United States as Andre Ferrella, and Dick Blau. Shortly after earning his BFA, he began working in the graphic arts industry as a digital print specialist. Jassen contributed to his employer's portfolio with two world awards and an honorable mention for the Benjamin Franklin Award-the "Oscar" of the printing industry. Exploring the world for more creativity, Mr. Popp then travelled to London and enrolled in a Masters of Art program. Similar to Benjamin Franklin, Jassen found London to be an innovative city. After finishing his MA, he took creative contract work at the London Business School and now at the age of 36 has decided to become a full time artist.
Currently, Mr Popp is working on a mixed media series. He is experimenting with QR Codes and embedding digital memory into his images. This series has been tagged by a research project in the UK called TOTeM displayed on their website, Tales of Things. The idea is to have people add digital memory to artwork. Memory can be in the form of photographs, videos, stories and even social things like tweets. This will give the artwork an internet of history that can be viewed online or with a mobile phone.
