Jaccohinke’s early paintings are mainly landscapes in which he seduces the viewer to admire ordinary scenes and to become aware of the boundaries of space and matter. He accomplishes this by using sharpness and blurring of vision.
When viewing a series of paintings the effect is poetic, the viewer imagines himself to be in a photo novel.
Where as in the past he zoomed in on an object and blurred the surrounding area, he presently places the object on its own stage.
“A still life is the perfect way to give an object its own stage. I want my objects to breath and to be alive, although most of them are fictitious. In fact, I would like them to ask: what am I, other than matter? Does it matter? In addition it’s also a quest for that perfect stroke with so many nuances in terms of color and strength, and which provides us with so much visual sensations leaving the viewer at a loss for words”.
