About

To get a full understanding of Emerald City and what I hope to accomplish as an artist may I first explain my journey and how it all happen.

Since I could remember I was always fascinated with big natural and made made structures. I just love to view large areas of the landscape from high above. I have been bless to live in a number of places with incredible views of nature and large urban areas.

For most of my life I’ve had the desire to design and build entire cities from my own imagination. Knowing this would be impossible for me to do out of real brick, steel and glass, I thought it might be best to build my cities in the form of art . Unfortunately this also proved impossible for me to do in the way I had really wanted to do it. So for many years I was limited to drawing one building at a time or small sections of a city mostly on paper .

Then in 1984 I had my first experience using computers at Bank Of America in Los Angeles. I didn’t foresee at the time of what the capability of computers would be today. About 16 years later I purchase my first computer and it opened a whole new world for me. I used it mostly for typing letters and and editing photographs. By then I had pretty much given up on the idea of creating magnificent cities on canvas and selling them to the world. A few years later I had purchased a powerful labtop and the latest Adobe software. Suddenly a door opened and the idea slowly came back to life. I continued to experiment with photographs and started to mess around a little with lines and box tools.

Finally the idea came to me; I know it’s impossible for me or anyone else to hand paint the cities I want to create but can I use Photoshop, Bryce and a printer to do it? I first tried to make small houses and cars and liked the results. By the time I purchased my third computer I was on my way to creating thousands of structures

(my personal building blocks for the 21 century)

from scratch with Photoshop to see if I could make a city in the way I always dreamed of. When the time came where I had enough structures to make my first city I was only able to view the full results on computer because the print technology wasn’t able to produced a full size fine art quality painting yet. I knew I was on to something and continued to make more structures. Then several years ago I made my first attempt to produce
a full size canvas painting of one of my cities. The effort failed. The print technology still wasn’t there yet. I was disappointed but pushed on, making more structures and dreaming of the day I could finally produce the art I had always dreamed of .

Then last year seeing how far print technology had come, I gave it another shot. This time I made the attempt with a city I produced called Emerald City. Now with the help of a Master Giclee Printer named
Gabe of Greenberg Editions and the incredible 64 inch Epson printer
I felt my art could finally be produced. Once again, the effort failed over
and over again. Then finally near the end of the year, Gabe gave me the news and 3 words I for so long waited for, it is done.

Now for the first time in the history of human art, technology is allowing artist to create on a new level, huge wall size fine art canvas painting of images impossible to paint by hand . The door is now open and new era of magnificent unbelievable art is well on its way. I am now working towards my goal of producing perhaps the world’s finest collection of cityscape paintings the world has ever seen.

Only time will tell.
