Born in 1944, went to Rietveld academy in Amsterdam. Paintings, etchings, crayon drawings, several other techniques; since 1990 compute graphics, digital collages.
I paint and draw out of curiosity and greed. I am always wondering what my next painting or drawing will look like, and I want to possess the images not yet painted. They grow out of the movements that I make, they slowly reveal themselves. They are reluctant to show themselves to me. I have to struggle with them, drag them out of nowhere, force them to exist. They always try to fool me, hiding behind ugly faces, hoping that I won't notice. I have to be alert and radically remove the false faces to find the images that I was hoping for. If I would not paint or draw them, they would stay hidden forever.
