About

I was born and raised in Derby, England. I currently teach drawing and painting on the Art Foundation and Fine Art BA (Hons) programmes at Blackburn in Lancashire.

My work is primarily based on analytical drawing from observation. My aim is to communicate something of the excitement of vision, and to engage as intensely as possible both with the subject and the materials used to represent the subject.

In addition to trying to find ways to truthfully represent the 'here and now' I also produce pictures about the past, and for these I sometimes use photographic imagery as a starting point to explore personal memories and experiences.
