Fernando Garcia-Vasquez is a Colombian artist with over ten years experience working within the arts sector as an artist, teacher and gallery assistant.
Fernando’s practice explores a myriad of ideas relating to appropriation and reproduction, communication and translation. Fundamental to his most recent work is a concern for issues relating to loss and extinction - a ‘presence of absence’ that resonates as a new form of environmental and social activism. His oil paintings and sculptural works are developed using exacting and detailed techniques that seek to draw new truths out of established cultural forms and iconographic imagery.
