Elin Neumann - Danish Artist
Born in Aalestrup, Denmark, 1955
First professional appearance at Kunstnernes Paaskeudstilling (Artists Easter Exhibition) in 1985.
Elin Neumann has since 1985 been active in a long list of museum exhibitions as well as gallery shows, national as well as international.
No matter what medium or subject matter, my work takes its cues from nature.
Nature and landscape are points of departure for my paintings, but instead of creating a perceived landscape on the canvas, I try to recreate or rather express its essence.
An example is my choice of color, the technic and use of earth colors applied in several thin, translucent layers. This gives my paintings their characteristical raw but, simultaneously, esthetic appearance. Like something very old, but in a modern context.
