My name is Iris. Born in Iceland 28.10.1976. Studied graphic design at the Akureyri School of Visual Arts in Iceland (www.myndak.is) 2007-2011.

STATEMENT

I am fascinated with the woman, her mind and body. The concept for most of my works is the endless battle that often happens between the two.. It´s about body image, self respect and loathing. How everything looks good on the outside, when there is chaos on the inside. In my quest to produce my works, i try to understand and open my eyes to the fact that we are all unique, but most of us have in common, the fact that we are all dealing with the same dilemmas.

I use heavy watercolour paper as the base for most of the works. In some i use different kinds of paper, like used printing paper to get that used feeling and get a relationship between that and the atmosphere in the artwork. I make collages but some might call it mixed media. I make drawings with pen and pencils, gouache and i cut and paste. My work is changing everyday so i am quickly moving forward with my art style.
