Diana Delgado

About

Born 1982Painter Diana Delgado lives and works in New York, NY. She received her MFA in Painting from The University of the Arts in 2007 and her BFA in Painting from Syracuse University in 2005. National and international exhibitions include shows in New York and Sitges (Barcelona), Spain. Residencies include Ox-Bow School of Art, affiliated with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (Merit Scholarship Recipient, 2004) and the Vermont Studio Center (Partial-fellowship recipient, April 2010). She received the Augusta Hazard Painting Award from Syracuse University in 2005. Diana Delgado's large, mixed-media paintings attempt to straddle painterly abstraction and recognizable imagery. Her paintings are very much about painting and a love of the medium. Seemingly unstable architectural structures are often featured within the abstract canvases. Reoccurring themes include personal narrative, fashion, and embracing frivolousness. Contemporary influences include Amy Sillman, Elizabeth Neel, Cecily Brown, Fiona Rae. Read More
