The painter
Patrice de Santa Coloma was born in Argentina in 1967. Student in London, he has spent most of his life in Paris, he now works in Bordeaux for the past three years.
Los luchadores – the wrestlers
The series represents wrestlers taking par in simulated combat, whose outcome has been decided in advance. The oppressive darkness, the public’s elusive presence, the blinding light of the ring, the blood, the sweat and the sparks of raw energy emanating from the « chispas » (the fighters), are all metaphors for the work and solitude of the artist.
