David MacKinnon is a hard-line abstract painter originally from Toronto, Canada. He currently lives in South Korea.
Each painting is created by gradually adding and subtracting layers of colour until the final composition has emerged. Lines which have been painted over but remain visible indicate the development of the painting. The quiet image that results speaks to the methodical process by which it has been made.
The paintings exist as independent objects in a pre- or post-linguistic world. They are strictly non-representational and offer respite from the ever-present noise of symbolism.
