Danijel Srdarev (born in Šibenik, Croatia on 13 August 1981) academic artist.
Invariant / Danijel Srdarev
Four interactive installations brought by the cycle "Invariant" are monumental portraits functioning as a picture within a picture, or more precisely, a jigsaw portrait on the graphic wallpaper surface. The static element of the surface holds a heart in the middle, which is a visual starting point with firstly created figure which could be repeated by dynamic expansion of the installation: upper portrait which is done in an artistic way is repeated in the form of the square segments that are portable, removable and could be fixed on the surface at its own discretion, passing the way form the passive reconstruction "throughout the model" according to individual interpretations through a completely new composition. Spiritual atmosphere of the portraits called; "Kafka", "A theatre with a curtain has vanished!", "Lucid dreaming" and "Three steps through the wood (or a trilogy of an escape) " creates Srdarev's recognizable way to create the atmospheric shield of meaning around his works, doing so with litteral- artistic reminescences which are often recognizable from the titles themselves. Already mentioned Kafka, Van Gogh or Oscar Mazerath are in some way guides, that is, figures demanding understanding, level creation and definition of the fields of intrests However, that presence should not be considered as a literal interpretation. Its immersion into the collection of motives seen through the eyes of the artist is actually universal, smart doubble filter through which the artist himself filtrates the world, followed by the creation enables the world, seen through the eyes of the individual, to filtrate the message of the artist. At the same time, every message leaving the individual, gets very easily missinterpreted creating the figures which have exceeded its litteral shape becoming common symbols of human search, but in the meantime we are at a quite safe teritory offering a shelter from deviation. Things that are characteristic for the researchers, innate to the creatures predetermined to grow, open all the ideas and lead to the resurrection and change of the traditional point of view into its own variations of truth conception. At the same time, the interactive element of the game (the individual participates by his/hers conceptions) is a withness of the desire to make the message more closer to the public. The message invites the public into a more intimate area of portrait construction and its understanding. If we look at these four works we are able to feel the rythm and messages of every single one of them. The works are made of sofisticated and profound conception, using art language. Those parts, untouchable for the man, are transcending the body as its fisical reality. All portraits radiate with its strong spiritual qualities and they grow into contemporary icons of selfconsciousness. The figures are simplified, as a protest, in order to transmit thier preoccupations more strongly. They represent the man living his own idea without mask. The relation between the portrait and the wallpaper is close; the surface transmits the atmosphere which enables the revealing of the nature's mind and its emotive tension.
