Of Irish origin, Christine Connelly was born in Coventry, England, where she studied Fine Art whilst training to be a teacher at St. Pauls College in Warwickshire. She then lived for prolonged periods in Spain, South Africa, France and England, initially teaching and later working in industry (marketing and communications management), during which time she continued to experiment and develop her painting and drawing techniques. The 90s saw a return to settle in Paris with her family, where she decided to relinquish her professional career to concentrate fully on realising her potential as an artist. She studied painting and drawing in the studios of the City of Paris, and at La Grande Chaumière, Paris. She derives her inspiration from the human experience of movement, mood, attitude and interaction. Not for her any soppy sentimentality in this pictorial interpretation of the world around her. These are real emotions portrayed with sensitivity and verve in a rich, vibrant palette and a variety of techniques (oils, watercolour, ink, charcoal and pastels) in her studio in the 15th arrondissement of Paris.
