Claudia Ferrari was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1961. She is an English and French translator and, while doing her post-degrees studies in Paris, she had the opportunity of getting in touch with local artists. She returns to Buenos Aires and in 1988 she starts studying Sumi-, a japanese painting technique on rice paper, with Kazu Takeda, an international renowned artist. She also studied Japanese, its culture and its ideograms for more than ten years
Art is an essential part of my life. I paint mainly sumi-e which is a japanese technique where you use sumi inks which are natural dyes made from flowers and rice paper that I then mount on canvas to give my works a more contemporary finish. I like mixing the traditional with the contemporary, achieving an unique quality. I manage to mix the oriental technique and treatment of Nature with my occidental being.
Claudia Ferrari was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1961. In her life she has two great passions: languages and painting. She gets a degree as a literary, scientific and technical translator of English and French while she studies painting at MEEBA. While doing her post-degrees studies at the Sorbonne University in Paris, she had the opportunity of getting in touch with local artists. In her search for getting to know new cultures, she studies Japanese and its ideograms for ten years. She then discovers her inner world through Sumi-, an antique Japanese technique using natural dyes on rice paper. Together with her Teacher Kazu Takeda she turns into the Oriental world where she recreates her occidental being through the techniques of colour Sumi-. Her teachers were I.Merellano, N.Pagano, E.Audivert and Juan Doffo. In Contemporary and Modern Art, F.Barreda.
