Charlie Day
About
Charlie Day has a first class Fine Art BA from Central St Martin’s in London and has exhibited in many group shows including the famous Summer Show at the Royal Academy and Burning Bright for the Saatchi Gallery at the Hyatt Hotel in London, where his work "Big Hunk O' Love" is exhibited in the Saatchi Suite. As well as making abstract paintings reminiscent of the St Ives group of painters, he also makes "Bad Paintings" of things. These "aggressively slack" (Martin Herbert, Time Out) still lifes are nostalgic reminiscences of his and his family's past. Upon graduation he helped set up and continues to manage Collective Studios with his contemporary Mark Nader and ACAVA, an affordable studios complex for recent graduates and early career artists. Day’s work is in public collections, including the University of the Arts and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and in private collections in Portugal, Spain, Italy, US and UK.
