First class BAhons graduate Richard Blunt is a contemporary artist based in Cardiff, UK.

From a very young age Richard soon found he had a talent for art and was often found looking for ways to be creative. Although Richard has always enjoyed drawing he first decided to pursue a career in music. It was not until 2009 while studying for a degree in music that he was inspired to try oil painting and his true passion was realised.

"I've always been fascinated by the gritty detail of the Pre-Raphaelites and the way artists like Caravaggio, Rembrandt and Vermeer used light in their paintings to create such depth. I'm also quite interested in the idea of negative space on a canvas and finding interesting ways to compose a painting".
