Description: 'Birth' is the first in a series of four images depicting a cycle from birth to death. The image shows the moment I am born out of myself to start a new cycle of life or a new cycle of experience. Birth is based on a French Renaissance anantomy painting by Jaque-Fabien Gautier DAgoty.

I used a combination of traditional paint strokes with digital manipulated photography, creating a transition between old and new. The original painting remains the foundation of the piece, however, I have reinterpreted the original story to make it relevant to a contemporary audience.
