Intriguing abstract wall sculpture with subliminal forms resembling a group of Cormorant sea birds in flight. Composed with a series of twisted redwood roots that have been juxtaposed to create exhilarating visual movements. The wall sculpture has abundant open spaces between the series of interwoven sinuous roots that provide an airy appearance as if the wood components are virtually floating while moving in opposite directions.
This contemporary redwood wall sculpture has been designed with numerous redwood roots which have been carved with chain saws, shaped with grinders and hand crafted to further embellish the forms. The wood components have been thoroughly sprayed with a durable clear oil producing a matt finish which reveals all the natural colors and exotic grain patterns. Due to the inherent characteristics of redwood burl, each wall sculpture is totally unique and cannot be duplicated. All of the natural redwood used to create these sculptures has been reclaimed the underground portions from fallen trees which have been victimized from winter storms, landslides or forest fires, therefor no living trees have been utilized.
All sculptures are signed and numbered by Daryl Stokes and include color brochure with an artist certificate of authenticity.
