The User in front of the National Gallery.
Find The User is a social experiment provoked by the way our society communicates.
It is true, Internet communication is the most used, popular and quickest way to find new friends. Our on-line profiles are very often full with people we hardly know and some of whom we definitely will never meet. Many of them are just a spot, image or blank profile icon for us. This is the inspiration behind the main character in this project. The Profile Icon is blank, unused, ready to be coloured in by the friend we dream of, if not always, sometimes. Put aside all the philosophy these thoughts evoke. The Icon itself, the “person” without face and identity, taken as an art object, presents a great challenge and the presence of such created sculpture should contribute it’s aesthetic to the artistic landscape of London.
