Paul Wood Sorry Roger, but I find this very sad. Is Venus really dead? Is there no place in your world for a Goddess of Love and Beauty? Aphrodite is eternal.

Roger Reutimann I have used this iconic painting as a metaphor for culture and it's decline since the renaissance, especially in art (my opinion). It has nothing to do with it's original meaning of the painting. The scull symbolized the intellectual death as well as other values that have been lost. And yes, you got it right, it is sad in a way. In contemporary art there is little appreciation for skills and originality these days.
