My current work is inspired by personal narrative and cultural issues; I try and simulate various cultures and styles into my sculptures. I have moved more into abstract figuration over the last 8...
This work portrays a drunken male form lying naked on a sofa after an excessive night of drink and pleasure, just holding on to his last glass of wine that is slowly slipping from his hand. The work was inspired by the public debate and government interest in binge drinking and excessive partying. Bacchus (Dionysus) was the Roman/ Greek god of wine, ritual madness, joyful worship and ecstasy. He put an end to care and worry.
I wanted my work to reflect all that in one narrative sculpture.
