The scene on this piece comes from the myth of the Great Caledonian Boar Hunt, where the Argonauts slew the boar. And one of the Argonauts that was instrumental in the death of the boar was Atalanta, which was the only woman warrior. I replaced Atalanta with Wonder Woman, and in this scene she slays the beast. The pot that serves as the medium is an Aryballos, a type of vessel or flask that was used for storing perfume and oil. A feature that I chose to connect with the feminine character. This is one of the 9 prints from the collection entitled Elysium Fields. These prints are based on the hero archetype that has lasted many centuries, suffering minor "adjustments" along time. The starting point of this collection of prints is Greek mythology which is in close relation with Comic book strips from nowadays. I chose to emphasize this connection by replacing the ancient heroes with comic book heroes. The scenes in which the heroes appear are like the illustration on the Greek ceramic pots. The Greek heroes: Hercules, Achilles, Odysseus, Jason and Atalanta. The comic book heroes are: Hellboy, Wolverine, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. The title refers to the heaven for heroes from Greek mythology.
