This is a mixed-technique etching (intaglio, aquatint, dry point) that uses oil-based etching ink (Charbonnel brand from France) on Rives BFK paper (France). It is an etching that deals with my visions of the next World War. Visual elements of my etchings include: play of shadow and light; manipulation of optical effects via use of plate textures; and, a hard-edged use of both line and geometric form. The actual image size is 9 high by 6 wide; the print (paper size) is 15 by 11; framed sizes vary. This print fits into both my GARGOYLE series and my REVELATION series. The latter deals with humanity's historic preoccupation with apocalyptic issues in religious writings. I based this image on a photo that I shot in Paris (1987). The entire edition in limited on only ten prints on white paper and ten on black paper with silver ink. I have exhibited this work as a diptych with both the white and black paper'ed prints side by side in a connective mat. Size below is framed size in centimeters (16x12")
