This is a mixed-technique etching (intaglio, aquatint, dry point) that uses oil-based etching ink (Charbonnel brand from France) on Rives BFK paper (France). It is from my series of etchings that deal with gothic architecture and angels. Visual elements of my etchings include: play of shadow and light; manipulation of optical effects via use of plate textures; and, a hard-edged use of both line and geometric form. The actual image size is 8" high by 6" wide; the print is 15" by 11"; framed sizes vary, but run between 16" to 18" high by 12" to 14" wide.
