This two-plate etching takes its inspiration from a photo in The US Library of Congress (Print and Picture Department, Washington, DC); It is a view of San Giogio (Venice) taken from the Doge's Palace (taken in 1890).
This etching uses the echniques of intaglio, drypoint, and aquatint and is executed in an original mixture of deep black ink (oil-based, Charbonnel Brand) on Rives BFK white paper (both manufactured in France). The image is acid-etched on two individual zinc plates that each measure eight inches high (20.3 cm) by six inches wide (15.24 cm). A small space exists vertically in between both images, making this a diptych-print. The paper/print size is 18” long x 15” high (46 by 38 cm); framed size varies but is close to 20” wide x 16” high (51 x 41 cm). All mats are acid-free/ framing is museum quality - Framing option of glass or plexi-glass. Size given below is framed size in centimeters.
